Chrome Breaking The monopoly Of Firefox

For a long time Firefox was the undisputed web browser around the world especially in the open source world where it was throned as an Emperor. Two Years back Google made it's public entry into opensource world by releasing major portion of the source code of Chrome as an open source project entitled 'Chromium'. This move enabled third-party developers to study the underlying source code and help port the browser to Mac OS X and Linux. Since then chrome started its leaping. At present chrome is the third widely used web browser after after Firefox and Internet Explorer. In the recent 2010 ranking by "Top Reviews" Chrome is second after Firefox. Graph shows that Chrome will go beyond Firefox in less than an year.

Major Setback for Firefox happened when some of the leading Linux distributions started replacing Firefox with chromium. For example in the Light weight edition of Ubuntu 10.04 ' Lubuntu ' the default browser is Chromium. Major drawbacks of Firefox are Slow to load, bulky ,less efficient engine etc. But chrome is light weight, small, simple, fast to load, and uses advanced high performance engine. In addition to this it is highly pipelined which makes browsing faster. Let's wait and see whether Firefox could cop up with issues to maintain it's kingdom.
